Consequences of climate change for infrastructure in Norwegian municipalities and counties

The project will be a study of what consequences climate change may have for the infrastructure in Norwegian municipalities and counties, and an evaluation of possible strategies and measures to meet these challenges. Our ambition is to develop a solution-oriented knowledge system to be used of local authorities in their efforts to adapt infrastructure to climate change. Five sectors will be covered by the study:

1.    Land-use planning
2.    Buildings
3.    Water supply and sewerage treatment
4.    Transport and transport infrastructure
5.    Power transmission and electronic communication.

The work will include mapping of existing knowledge, study of possible consequences of climate change for local infrastructure based on different climate projections, and analysing relations between consequences and risk, and between societal change and climate change. Effective climate adaptation measures will be identified, as well as conditions of and barriers to climate adaptation work within the municipal sector.
