Torunn is a senior researcher and administrative group leader of Technology and Society group at WNRI.
Her research includes policy development and implementation of sustainable circular economy, green transition of industry, and how climate change may impact on the leakage and toxicity of environmental pollutants.
Torunn has a master in molecular cell biology from NTNU, Trondheim and a PhD in ecotoxicology from the University of Oslo from 2001. Her work experience includes being a researcher at the National Institute of Public Health, with risk assessments and classification/ labelling of chemicals, a science teacher at Luster high school and associated professor in cell biology, physiology and genetics at Sogn og Fjordane University College. She learned much about waste policy and environmental governance as an operation manager at SIMAS (Sogn intermunicipial waste company), and as a senior engineer in the environmental department of the County Governor in Sogn og Fjordane for eight years.
