Vestlandsforsking organised a two-day kickoff meeting for their new project, "SusRenew: Transitioning to a Sustainable Climate System with Low Climate Risk". In the project, researchers from Aalborg University, NORCE Climate, and the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) in Sogndal collaborate to lay a solid foundation for research activities that will take place over the next four years.

The overarching research question is: How can the Norwegian renewable energy sector obtain low-emission goals set by Norwegian governments in 2050 and beyond while simultaneously building resilience to climate risks? The project has been granted 12 million Norwegian kroner from the Research Council of Norway to determine what types of physical climate risk could arise in transitioning to a one hundred per cent renewable energy system and which measures are relevant to reduce this risk.
