Adapta.Local.Oeste - Planning of Municipal Climate Adaptation in Oeste

The aim of the project to provide Portuguese municipalities with instruments to promote climate change adaptation and to inform and prepare local communities to deal with climate change. The project is a cooperation with the following partners in addition to 12 small and medium sized Portuguese municipalities: The organisation “Intermunicipal Community of the West” (OesteCIM) who leads the project, the Centre for Studies and Urban and Regional Development, Ltd (CEDRU), and Western Norway Research Institute.

The project consists of three components: (1) Supporting the development of municipal plans for adaptation to climate change. (2) Setting up and implementing three training workshops for municipal technicians in the departments of urban planning, environment and civil protection. (3) Improving regional and local awareness of climate change through the realization of 12 local adaptation councils, composed of relevant local sectorial entities.
