Play2Transform: Gaming to enhance climate mitigation in Norwegian municipalities
PLAY2TRANSFORM is a service that supports Norwegian municipalities in developing effective climate mitigation strategies. The service uses serious gaming to engage practitioners, stakeholders and decision-makers in discussions about emissions reduction strategies and the role of consumption. By simulating planning processes, it enhances cross-sectoral understanding, builds climate competence, and encourages systemic thinking among civil servants and other user groups.
The project aims to commercialize the service and scale its use among local authorities and beyond to accelerate climate policy implementation and improve cross-sectoral collaboration. With strong roots in in the litterature on consumption-based emission inventories and considering the growing
demand for practical climate tools, PLAY2TRANSFORM has the potential to become an important tool for local climate action in Norway and beyond.
