Vestlandsforsking shall describe the long tracks in Norwegian context, related to international developments, of the implementation of alternative fuels in the transport sector. This is illustrated through barrier knowledge. Knowledge about barriers will be gathered, in the shape of 3 long tracks:

1. Electric cars, with electricity as the alternative energy form
2. Hydrogen as an energy carrier in transportation, both in fuel cells and combustion engines
3. The biofuels biodiesel and ethanol
