This pilot project's main goal is to lay the foundation for a larger project to document and disseminate traditional knowledge of cultivation, use and memory associated with apple cultivars that have been in use in the fruit districts of Sogn. To achieve this we

• prepare an overview of written sources (literature and archive) with historical information on apple cultivars in Sogn og
• develop and test a methodology for the collection and systematization of information, and simultaneously collect basic data.

The project is funded by the Norsk Genressurssenter, and collaborators are Norsk fruktmuseum, Sogn Folkemuseum, Njøs Næringsutvikling  and fylkesarkivet i Sogn og Fjordane.
