Otto Andersen has passed away

Otto Andersen, who worked as a researcher at Western Norway Research Institute, died on 28 December 2019 following a short period of illness.

Otto Andersen has passed away at the age of 64. He leaves behind a wife, a daughter, and two sons.

Otto held an MSc in biochemistry from the University of Oslo and a PhD from Aalborg University (Denmark). His career at Western Norway Research Institute began in 1994. Otto had previously spent several years in the US working as a researcher in private enterprises and in the university sector. He had also worked at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health in Oslo.

His area of research included industrial ecology, transportation, and alternative energy sources. Otto participated in a number of international research projects, and had an extensive professional network in Norway and abroad.

Otto spent 25 years of his research career at Western Norway Research Institute and will be deeply missed by colleagues and friends

The funeral was held at Kaupanger Stave Church on Tuesday 7 January 2020.
