Staging sales and distribution of local food in Sogn og Fjordane

The market for local food in Norway is growing by 10% every year. As it is relatively easy to sell the goods, there are other challenges that are important. Distribution of local food is difficult and inefficient because of small quantities, long distances, and lack of organised distribution. In 2015 Haugen gardsmat with partners was awarded financial support from Innovation Norway to run a feasability study on the topic. The study concluded that it is feasable to establish a distribution organisation for local food from Sogn og Fjordane.

In the staging project Vestlandsforsking will help Haugen gardsmat and partners to set the stage for an organisation for sales and distribution of local food. This will include detailed investigation into geographical placement and routes, organisation of work, type of organisation, ways of distribution, and more.
