Climate Change and Tourism

In March 2007, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) commissioned the organization Experts in Climate Change and Tourism (ECLAT) to write a report summarizing the state-of-the-art knowledge on the consequences of climate change for global tourism, as well as the contribution global tourism is making to climate change through emissions of greenhouse gases. The full report, written by 8 scientists including Stefan Gøssling from the Western Norway Research Institute, is due any day.

Including 500 references on almost 200 pages, it is the most comprehensive document on the interactions of tourism and climate change. A summary of the report, which was presented on 1 October 2007 during the 2nd International Conference on Tourism and Climate Change in Davos, Switzerland, can be found here:
