Carol obtained her Doctoral (August 2008) and Master of Philosophy (2002) degrees in Media Studies from the Institute for Media and Communication, University of Oslo and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) (1996) in Mass Communication from Makerere University (Uganda).
She has previously worked as a reporter and editor with two of Uganda’s leading newspapers corporations (i.e. The Monitor and The New Vision respectively). She has taught Bachelors and Masters courses at the Department of Media and Communication, and the International Summer School, University of Oslo and has been a private research consultant on (New) Media and Last Mile empowerment.
Her research interest revolves around the relationships and tensions between Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), marginalization and social change. She is particularly interested in how theories, policies and implementation processes and practices embed the needs, capacities and participation of disadvantaged communities of interest.
