Anne Karin holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Bergen. Prior to her engagement at WNRI, she held a position as Director General in the Department of Regional Development of the Norwegian Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation.

Anne Karin was County Governor of Sogn og Fjordane from 2011 to 2018 and has previously held positions such as Deputy County Governor, Head of Administration, and Adviser at the County Governor’s Office, as a lecturer at the University College of Sogn og Fjordane (now Western University of Applied Sciences), and as a journalist in regional and local newspapers as well as the Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

From 2015 to 2018, Anne Karin chaired the board of the Norwegian Veterinary Institute, and she has previously led various national committees. In 2022, she joined the board of the Western Norway Regional Health Authority (Helse Vest RHF) and from 2024 she is member of the Innovation portfolio board in the Research Council..
