Call for tender

Title: Assistance in the life-cycle assessment of: ethanol-blended gasoline, and tiles made from waste cathode ray-tube (CRT) glass

Maximum cost: 20 000 EUR

Call deadline: 10 June 2015

Duration: 13 June 2015 – 31 Mar 2016

Description of subject:

This call for tender encompasses 2 tasks:

1. Life-cycle assessment (LCA) of ethanol-blended gasoline as a transport fuel. Particular attention should focus on bio-ethanol additives (multifunctional detergent additive packages) and the presence of weaknesses with current life-cycle assessments, inventory data, methods and results concerning LCA of ethanol blended gasoline. An ability to work with alternative methods of achieving LCA results beyond the use of commercial databases and software will be beneficial, see the following references. This is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) project: Influence of bioethanol fuels treatment for operational performance, ecological properties and GHG emissions of spark ignition engine (BIOTRETH).

2. The establishing of a life cycle inventory of tiles produced from waste cathode ray tube (CRT) glass, and comparing the life cycle environmental impacts to those of conventional ceramic tiles. This is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) project ”Utilization of CRT waste in the glass tiles manufacturing process. Developing technological parameters (CRT Tile)”

As such, applicants should possess an understanding of the methodological framework of LCA and LCA software.
